SSVMS Committees- Recent Activity

Editorial Committee

The Editorial Committee is responsible for planning, soliciting articles, editing, and publishing SSV Medicine. The Committee met in October and November to discuss new articles on items such as the relationship between pharmaceutical capabilities and patient expectations, as well as expert reviews on the television program The Pitt. The Committee also discussed the structure for quarterly magazines in 2026.

Scholarship and Awards Committee

The Scholarship and Awards Committee administers the Medical Student Scholarship Fund and recommends special awards for members of the Society such as the Golden Stethoscope, Community Impact, Excellence in Advocacy, and Outstanding Medical Society Volunteer Awards. The Committee met in November to recommend SSVMS members for annual awards to be bestowed at SSVMS Honors Medicine 2026.

SPIRIT Management Committee

The SPIRIT Management Committee provides support for donated medical care to the Sacramento Region’s uninsured and medically indigent. The Committee met in October to review program data for usage and referrals, as well as to share the experiences of patients who accessed the program.
